Initial Pre-Exit Planning

To start the process of Pre-Exit Planning for your business, we need to gain a better understanding of you and your business.

First, we will evaluate your current financial situation, focusing on a) past profitability and b) expected future profitability.

During our initial analysis, we will identify any profit leakage and determine its extent. We will then provide recommendations to reduce, or even eliminate, identified profit leakage.

Then we will examine your management style and determine if you are ready to exit now or if more needs to be done to make your business less Owner-Centric.  If your business needs you to survive, then you are probably not ready to exit.  If you do try to exit at this stage your business selling price will be less than idea.  We will work with you to determine a management succession plan.  

The following are a few items that we will address:

  • Three year P&L comparison and analysis
  • Three year Balance Sheet comparison and analysis
  • Financial Ratio Analysis
  • Analyze lines of business to determine which are most profitable
  • Institute internal controls that may be missing
  • Determine which underutilize assets should be liquidated
  • Close down money losing divisions/departments
  • Reduce overhead. including head count. as required
  • Recommend vendors. including your insurance brokers. with whom you should negotiate payments.
  • Restate your financial statements to “Normalize Income” to put your business in the best possible light
  • Discuss/analyze your financial situation with your Attorney. CPA, Banker, and others with your prior approval.

With your approval, we will speak with six of your vendors and six of your customers. We will inform them that we are America’s Business Coach, seeking their input to identify your firm’s strengths and areas for improvement. This feedback can significantly advance your business!

Once the aforementioned items are addressed, Proformas will be produced that accurately represent your future financial prospects.
